इसे रोकने के कई प्रयास हुए हैं। किंतु अब सर्व पंजाबी खत्री समाज ने इसे हरियाणा में विस्तृत रूप से उठने के लिए राज्य के सभी विधायकों को ज्ञापन देकर इसके विरुद्ध कानून बनाने की मांग रखी है। विद्वान शिक्षाविद् डा सर्वदानंद पूर्व उपकुलपति हरियाणा कृषि विश्वविद्यालय राष्ट्रीय संयोजक तथा सेवानिवृत्त शिक्षा अधिकारी अनिल वोहरा मुख्य विस्तारक समस्त पंजाबी खत्री समाज की 53 सदस्य राष्ट्रीय कार्यकारिणी के साथ मिलकर खत्री समाज को जागरूक करने तथा एक मंच पर लाने के लिए सक्रिय हैं।
संगठन के पदाधिकारी द्वारा राज्य के अनेक विधायकों को ज्ञापन देने के बाद विधानसभा में इसका प्रभाव भी दिखाई दिया। हरियाणा के माननीय विधायक सर्वश्री कृष्ण मिढ्ढा (जींद),असीम गोयल (अंबाला शहर), धनश्याम अरोड़ा ( यमुनानगर), विनोद भ्याना (हांसी), किरण चौधरी ( तोशाम) असंध के विधायक शमशेर गोगी ,सुभाष सुधा (कुरूक्षेत्र), धनश्याम सर्राफ (भिवानी)ने,विधानसभा में मांग रखी कि पंजाबियों को शरणार्थी, रिफ्यूजी, पाकिस्तानी कहने पर पाबंदी लगाई लगाते हुए कानून बनाया जाये। हरियाणवी विधायकों ने कहा कि यह समाज संधर्षशील, स्वाभिमानी, परिश्रमी तथा देशभक्त हैं। ऐसे समाज के लोगों के प्रति घृणित शब्दावली का इस्तेमाल करना उचित नहीं है
