আমি বললাম যেহেতু সে আগে এসেছে তাকে আগে ডাক। মা মেয়ে চেম্বারে ঢুকেই কাপা কাপা গলায় মহিলাটি বলল, ‘ স্যার আমি সিরিয়াল কাটি নাই, টাকা নেই।’ তাকে বসতে বললাম, বসতে চায় না আমার সামনে। ধমকের পর বসল, কি হয়েছে বলার পর বলল, ‘ স্যার আমি মেথর, মেয়েটার ৫দিন ধনে জ্বর, বাজার থেকে সিরাপ এনে দিয়েছি, কোন কাজ করে না। ডা. এর নিকট চিকিৎসা করার মত আমাদের সাধ্যি নেই। অনেকের কাছে শুনে আপনার কাছে আসলাম, যদি আপনার দয়া হয়, আমার মেয়েটাকে চিকিৎসা করে দেন স্যার।


কোথায় থেকে এসেছেন বলার পর বলল, ‘ চাদপুরের মতলব (উ:), বেলতলী থেকে, নাম সীমা কটক, স্বামী হিরো কটক, প্যারালাইজড। এক ছেলে, দুই মেয়ে নিয়ে খুব অসহায় অবস্থায় আছি স্যার।’ কটক কি জিজ্ঞাসা করা মাত্রই হিন্দি, উর্দূ বলা শুরু করল। কিছুক্ষণ পর বলল স্যার আমি বিহারী, গরিব বলে সমাজে আমাদের দাম নাই, মেয়েটার ৫দিন জ্বর হলেও ঔষধ কেনার জন্য কারো কাছে ধার চেয়েও টাকা পাইনে। তাই দু’দিন ভিক্ষুা করে ২২০টাকা যোগার করে মেয়েকে নিয়ে এসেছি, ভাড়ায় চলে গেছে ৩৫টাকা।
