हम सबको दुर्लभ मनुष्य शरीर भगवान् की अहैतुकी कृपा से इसीलिए प्राप्त हुआ है कि हम अपने इस शरीर से स्वयं के उद्धार का प्रयत्न करें। इसीलिए स्वयं को पहचानने का प्रयास करना चाहिए कि हम वास्तव में क्या हैं और हमारा वास्तविक स्वरूप क्या है।
उक्त उद्गार परमाराध्य परमधर्माधीश उत्तराम्नाय ज्योतिष्पीठाधीश्वर जगद्गुरु शङ्कराचार्य स्वामिश्रीः अविमुक्तेश्वरानन्दः सरस्वती 1008 ने अपने चातुर्मास्य प्रवचन के अवसर पर कही।
उन्होंने कहा कि ब्रह्मा जी ने मनुष्य शरीर बनाने से पहले अनेक शरीर बनाए। अनेक आकार प्रकार के क्रिमि, कीट, पतिंगे, पशु, पक्षी आदि बनाये पर उनको मन में सन्तोष नहीं हुआ। जब उन्होंने मनुष्य शरीर बनाया, तब उनको सन्तोष हुआ कि इस शरीर में स्वयं को पहचानने की और धर्म-अधर्म को जानने का सामर्थ्य है। जिस प्रकार कोई चित्रकार तब तक सन्तुष्ट नहीं होता जब तक उसके द्वारा सही चित्र न बन जाए उसी प्रकार ब्रह्मा जी भी पहले सन्तुष्ट नहीं हो रहे थे। मनुष्य शरीर के सटीक सर्जन के प्रयास में उनके द्वारा अन्य अनेक शरीर निर्मित हो गये।
पहले भारत का नाम अजनाभवर्ष था
पूज्यपाद शङ्कराचार्य जी महाराज ने इण्डिया के भारत नाम परिवर्तित किए जाने के सन्दर्भ में कहा कि पहले भारत का नाम अजनाभवर्ष था। उसके बाद इसका नाम भारतवर्ष पडा। भारत का अर्थ है जो ब्रह्मविद्या में रत रहे। हमारे यहाॅ एक भरत जी हुए जो सदा ब्रह्मविद्या में रत रहते थे। उन्हीं के नाम पर इस देश का नाम भारत हुआ है। ऐसे ब्रह्मविद्या में रत राजा को भारत के लोगों ने पसन्द किया। जनता अपने निःस्पृह शासक को सदा से पसन्द करती है। आज भी भारत का जगद्गुरुत्व उसके पास निहित ब्रह्मविद्या के कारण ही है।
आगे कहा कि अपने ज्ञान और धन को मनुष्यों को छिपाकर रखना चाहिए। जो मनुष्य अपने धन का दिखावा करता है वह संकट में पड जाता है। इसी प्रकार जो अपने ज्ञान का दिखावा करते हैं वे भी संकट में पड जाते हैं। इसीलिए हमारे धर्मशास्त्रों ने जडवल्लोक आचरेत् माने संसार में जड की भाँति व्यवहार करने को शिक्षा दी है।
पूज्यपाद शङ्कराचार्य जी महाराज के प्रवचन के पूर्व —
परम पूज्य शङ्कराचार्य जी महाराज भागवत कथा पंडाल पर दोपहर 3:30 पर पहुंचे जहाँ पर संस्कृत विद्या पीठ गुरुकुल एवं बनारस में अध्ययनरत छात्रों के द्वारा पूज्य शंकराचार्य जी महाराज का हर हर महादेव एवं जय गुरुदेव के जयघोष के साथ स्वागत किया। पूज्य महाराजा श्री, ने मंच पर पहुंचते ही, सर्वप्रथम ब्रह्मलीन जगतगुरु शंकराचार्य स्वामी स्वरूपानंद सरस्वती जी महाराज के, तैल चित्र पर पूजन अर्चन किया। उसके उपरांत वह व्यास पीठ पर आसीन हुए।
जहां पर आज श्री मद भागवत कथा के यजमानो ने व्यासपीठ का पूजन एवं पादुका पूजन किया और पूज्य शंकराचार्य जी का आशीर्वाद लिया भागवत कथा के मंच पर भजनों की प्रस्तुति भजन गायकों के द्वारा दी गई पुज्य शंकराचार्य जी महाराज का अनेक भक्तो ने माल्यार्पण कर आशीर्वाद लिया। मंच पर प्रमुख रूप से शंकराचार्य जी महाराज के निजी सचिव चातुर्मास्य समारोह समिति के अध्यक्ष *ब्रह्मचारी सुबुद्धानन्द जी, ज्योतिष्पीठ पण्डित आचार्य रविशंकर द्विवेदी शास्त्री जी, ज्योतिष पीठ शास्त्री पं राजेन्द्र शास्त्री जी, दंडी स्वामी श्री अम्बरीशानन्द जी महाराज, पं राजकुमार तिवारी, ब्रह्मचारी ब्रम्हविध्यानंद जी आदि ने अपने विचार व्यक्त किए। मंच पर प्रमुख रूप से पूज्यपाद शङ्कराचार्य जी महाराज की पूर्णाभिषिक्त शिष्या साध्वी पूर्णाम्बा एवं साध्वी शारदाम्बा, परमहंसी गंगा आश्रम व्यवस्थापक सुंदर पांडे उपस्तिथ रहे। मंच का संयोजन *श्री अरविन्द मिश्र* एवं संचालन राजकुमार तिवारी ने किया।
