आज भारत धर्म महामण्डल के माता गायत्री देवी मन्दिर में पं श्री सत्यनारायण पाण्डेय जी की अध्यक्षता में महामण्डल के सभी सदस्यों की उपस्थिति में वैदिक मन्त्रोच्चार के साथ अखण्ड ज्योति प्रज्ज्वलित की गयी और इस ज्योति को अधिवक्ता पं रमेश उपाध्याय जी एवं श्री सतीश अग्रहरि जी ने जागेश्वर महादेव मन्दिर में महन्थ श्री मधुर कृष्ण दास जी के सान्निध्य में स्थापित किया।

श्री उपाध्याय जी ने बताया कि जब तक ज्योतिष्पीठाधीश्वर जगद्गुरु शंकराचार्य स्वामिश्रीः अविमुक्तेश्वरानन्दः सरस्वती महाराज का काशी आगमन नही होता तब तक उनकी प्रतीक्षा में यह अखण्ड दीप इसी प्रकार से जलता रहेगा। इस अखण्ड ज्योति को लेकर चलते समय सभी लोग ज्योतिष्पीठाधीश्वर की जय हो एवं धर्म की जय हो आदि नारा लगाते हुए चलते रहे।
उन्होंने कहा कि स्कन्द पुराण के काशी खण्ड में यह कथा आती है कि एक बार जैगीषव्य ऋषि ने भगवान् शंकर को काशी बुलाने के लिए अन्न-जल त्याग कर कठिन तपस्या की थी और उन पर प्रसन्न होकर ही भगवान शंकर जैगीषव्येश्वर के रूप में स्थापित हुए थे।
आज काशी की आस्तिक जनता भी अपने ज्योतिर्मठ के नये शंकराचार्य की प्रतीक्षा में ऑख बिछाए बैठी है और उनके नगर आगमन पर भव्य स्वागत किया जाएगा।
