জামালগঞ্জ উপজেলার ফেনারবাঁক ইউনিয়নের আমানীপুর বর্মণপাড়া গ্রাম বৌলাই নদীর তীরে অবস্থিত। আজ থেকে ত্রিশ বছর আগে জেলে সম্প্রদায়ের লোকজন ধনু নদীর তীরবর্তী এলাকায় বসবাস শুরু করেন। গত তিন বছর ধরে নদী ভাঙনের কারণে বর্মণপাড়ার লোকজনের বেশকিছু বসতবাড়ি নদীগর্ভে বিলীন হয়ে গেছে। শুষ্ক মৌসুমে ভাঙন কম থাকলেও বর্ষাকালে এর তীব্রতা বেড়ে যায়। বিশেষ করে ঝড়বৃষ্টিতে নদীতে পানি বৃদ্ধি পাওয়ার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ভাঙনের তীব্রতাও বেড়ে যায়।
গত সপ্তাহে বর্মণপাড়া গ্রামের গৌরাঙ্গ বর্মণ, মহেন্দ্র বর্মণ, জয়মোহন বর্মণ, সুধাংশু বর্মণ ও ঝনঞ্জুলি বর্মণের বসতভিটা নদীগর্ভে বিলীন হয়ে গেছে। আকস্মিক নদী ভাঙনে তাদের পাড়ার তিনটি বসতঘর ও একটি ধানের মাচা ও ২৫ মণ ধানসহ নদীতে চলে গেছে।
বাসিন্দা জয়চরণ বর্মণ জানান, গ্রামের যারা বসবাস করেন তারা কেউ স্বচ্ছল পরিবারের নন। সবাই দিন আনে দিন খায়। নদী ভাঙনের ফলে কোথাও যে সরে যাবে সে সামর্থ্য ও আর্থিক সঙ্গতি তাদের নেই।
ফেলারবাঁক ইউনিয়ন পরিষদের চেয়ারম্যান করুণা সিন্ধু তালুকদার বলেন, ‘ভাঙন কবলিত এলাকা আমি বেশ কয়েকবার পরিদর্শন করেছি। নদী ভাঙনের ফলে বর্মণপাড়া এলাকায় মানুষ অসহায় হয়ে পড়েছে। নদী ভাঙতে ভাঙতে তাদের ঘরে চলে এসেছে। এখন আর কোথাও সরে যাওয়ার কোনও জায়গা নেই বর্মণপাড়ার বাসিন্দাদের। তাই দ্রুত তাদের পুনর্বাসন করা দরকার।
